Perhaps this year the snow gods will cooperate. Although canceled last year due to excessive snow and cold, we are all hoping March2016 proves to be more conducive to the Audubon’s annual Eagle Festival held in Newburyport.
This is a wonderful family event that showcases guided eagle walks, a live raptor showcase at the Town Hall and many other fun and educational programs to teach us all more about how raptors fit into our bio-diverse river habitat. It pleases both local families and wildlife lovers of all ages year after year.
Seeing these amazing birds in person is part of building a larger appreciation in aiding their survival and supporting a healthy environment for all life, feathered or furred.
Scheduled now for Saturday, March 5, 2016.
Festival features include:
- Eagle-spotting locations along the lower Merrimack with on-site interpreters
- Bus tours guided by expert birders starting in downtown Newburyport
- Live raptor demonstrations at Newburyport’s City Hall
- Children’s nature activities and live bird demonstrations at Mass Audubon’s Joppa Flats and the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters
