History of the Salisbury Center
Since the turn of the century, hundreds of thousands of people have flocked to Salisbury Beach to enjoy its long coastline and entertainment. Within steps of Seaglass and the Blue Ocean Music Hall – at dance halls like The Frolics nightclub Tony Bennett, Frankie Avalon, Liberace, Louis Armstrong and many more thrilled audiences for weeks at time.
Later, popular bands including Aerosmith and The Fools performed at the Beach Club located at The Pavilion site. During the 1970 and 80s, the Pavilion area was also home to the much-loved Shaheen Amusement Park which served families from all over New England.
Developers making extensive renovations in 2009 decided to utilize environmentally friendly materials in keeping with a new mission for conservation. Energy efficient windows, lighting, insulation, radiant heating and HVAC systems were employed throughout the new facilities. Operations at Seaglass are “green” and include recycling and water conservation practices. These practices have afforded the restaurant with a certification by the Green Restaurant Association.
In addition Seaglass supports the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation, an environmental non-profit organization. Blue Ocean is committed to inspiring passion in people to conserve and preserve our marine environment through education and research in New England.
