Our Firehouse Theater is the cultural heart and soul of Newburyport.
The popular and long running Literary Festival and Documentary Film Festival both benefit from the use of this historic landmark and through the year great concerts, classic movies and local dance and theater productions can be seen conveniently here in town. On April 12, the annual fundraiser featured sights and sounds from across the pond.
“London Calling” transformed the Merrimack into the Thames for an inspired evening. Guests enjoyed a complimentary beverage upon arrival and British inspired hors d’oeuvres. Entertainment included knightings by the queen, 007, Beatles memorabilia, a silent and live auction, a cash bar, and late night dancing on the Firehouse stage with live music accompaniment. Also, mark your calendar for the EarthPort Film Festival in May.

Now in it’s 3rd year, Earth Port Film Festival is well on its way to becoming an annual tradition.
The intent of the festival is to demonstrate the power of film in communicating important environmental issues and to inspire increased awareness.
It is designed to include US and foreign, as well as student films. In 2012, PortMedia and Transition Newburyport partnered to organize the Earth Port Film Festival, focusing on short films that inspire, catalyze or document environmental action.
Films to be screened will be announced on Earth Day, April 22.
The event is on Sunday, May 18 at 7pm. Proceeds from the Earth Port Film Festival will be used to support the training and development of Newburyport youth and adults in the art of communicating via film and video. This event is presented by Earth Port Film Festival.
Tickets in Advance: $10 students, $15 adults day of festival: $12 students, $17 adults.
