The Newburyport Documentary Film Festival (NDF) is a well attended regional even held every September. The nonprofit also runs programs during the year for the Greater Newburyport film community.
For over 14 years they have been committed to bringing the highest caliber documentary films to our community.
In addition to screenings all weekend at historic venues, they will also hold filmmaker receptions, after-parties, panel discussions, Q&As, and workshops.
Their mission is to offer a high quality immersive experience, at which experienced documentary enthusiasts and first-time attendees can interact freely and easily with film-makers and one another.

~The Pollinators
Feature length documentary film about the importance of pollination to our food system, the complex interrelationship between migratory beekeepers, their bees and the agriculture system that needs these migratory honey bees in order to grow the food we eat.
~Last Man Fishing
Narrated by best-selling author, Mark Bittman, LAST MAN FISHING tracks the personal stories of three small-scale fishermen seeking to stay afloat in a consolidating seafood industry. Filmed primarily in Alaska and New England, the documentary explores the dichotomy between the industrial extraction of the ocean’s resources and sustainable fishing methods that focus on conservation and quality.

~The Rise at Standing Rock
In 2016 from the summer through the harsh winter at Standing Rock, North Dakota, the youth of many tribes unite the Native Nations for the first time in 150 years and rise up in spiritual solidarity to non-violently fight for Unci Maka (Mother Earth) against the 3.8 billion dollar Dakota Access Oil Pipeline (DAPL).
~Pariah Dog
Pariah Dog is a creative documentary focusing on several eccentric street dog caretakers in Kolkata, India. Shot over three years, the film paints a kaleidoscopic picture of the city of Kolkata, seen through the prism of four outsiders and the dogs they love.
