Maine Root has created a successful formula for a new type of soft drink. Brothers Matt and Mark have developed a better tasting cola using organic ingredients and following Fair Trade policies. Translate to … awesome root beer floats.
Fair Trade certified means they are committed to helping small farmers around the world both have a better standard of living and avoid harming the environment using chemicals that pollute the food chain.
While working at natural and organic Flatbread pizza in Portland, Matt Seiler had an aha moment seeing the popular colas served did not pass muster.
Using the restaurant as a testing ground he developed the Maine Root product and standards of operation and was joined by brother Mark whose business background helped bring the company Nationwide. This Memorial Day the company celebrates their ten year anniversary. Did we mention these colas make great ice cream floats…blueberry, real ginger ale…orange ale…..get creative. The company supports various non-profit functions with cola donations too. (see their website)
We asked Mark ten questions this week to get to know the company a bit better.
