Whether you plan to celebrate 2020 at home, in Newburyport, or in its outskirts … be sure to welcome the new year in style!
There are some great options in our area, whether you are celebrating in front of your fireplace or driving (taking the train?) to Newburyport, Portsmouth or Boston. Plan to have fun and be safe.
Staying at home?
Be sure to visit the Tannery to pick up some home decor and libations at Beach Plum, Red Bird, and Joppa Fine Foods. Add some centerpieces, candles, 2020 streamers, appetizers, cheeses and champagne to warm up the living room, and celebrate with close family and friends.
Visiting Newburyport?
There are so many options in amazing Newburyport for small venue celebrations with friends. Consider staying in town at the Garrison, Compass Inn or one of many B&Bs. Check out The Poynt, Mission Oak Grille, Plum Island Grille, the Black Cow, Michaels, Port Tavern, or, of course, the Grog…… for music and new years with friends new and old.
Feeling First Night this year?
It’s hard to beat the energy, events and beautiful ice sculptures that you can enjoy at “First Night” locations. In greater Newburyport we have two options! Travel a half hour south so you can join friends in Boston…or drive a half hour north, and you can enjoy fireworks, ice sculptures, and skating in Portsmouth without the big city traffic. Both are amazing options.
Have a healthy, safe, and successfully 20-20! Change is in the air ~

About the Portsmouth First Night logo…….
Pro Portsmouth recently unveiled this year’s 2020 First Night logo design prize. The winning logo design was created by Evan Kennedy, a sophomore at Great Bay Charter School in the Seacoast School of Technology’s Digital Media Arts Program.
“I was inspired by Vincent van Gogh with his famous ‘Starry Night’ painting,” said Kennedy, who attended the unveiling with his parents and sister. Kennedy won the first prize of $300 for his logo design, which will appear on all First Night admission buttons and merchandise.
