This past weekend I had an opportunity to try a new wine while visiting with some friends here in Newburyport. Sitting at their kitchen table, I watched a bottle of red wine get pulled from the fridge, opened and served. Hmmmmm…Do you chill red wine? I have tasted Beaujolais chilled. It’s light, slightly fruity and extremely lovely for summer. Was I getting such a treat?
The glass was then placed in front of me and it was starting to fog slightly from the cold. Inside a beautiful deep burgundy liquid swished. You could see the legs behind the fog running down the side of the glass. I had to take a sip. Raising the glass to my mouth I took a quick sniff – a slightly sweet aroma. The first sip was such a surprise to my mouth! With the chill, there was a bit of bright, crisp berries. As the wine warmed in my mouth, I got full flavor that slightly dried on the back end. Yum. What was I drinking?

Will I be going? Yes. This is a great wine to round the summer festivities off with! I can see us bringing it out on the boat or opening it while toasting to the arrival of school starting. You should give it a try!
