In June there is a countdown culminating in the announcement of the top winner in each category — small (20-100), midsize (101-500) and large, (500 plus).
Smart employees look at many other factors besides salary when evaluating firms. Health and dental benefits, profit sharing and flex-time can dramatically improve quality of life and long term returns. Startups and larger firms need to appreciate how important company culture is as a competitive advantage. Health care and high tech tend to lead the list with Harvard Pligrim Health Care, Anna Jaques Hospital, Lowell General, Enterasys, Microsoft and Digitas making the cut last year.
